Here’s a date you don’t want to miss: the 11th World Harp Congress will be held in the beautiful ocean-side city of Vancouver, Canada, July 24 to 30, 2011.
During this week-long event, more than 200 of the world’s greatest harpists will be performing, giving lectures and master classes. And some 1,000 participants are expected to attend from 40 different countries.
Expect an unbelievable feast of harp music. You’ll hear the world’s leading classical harpists, specialty Baroque harpists, jazz harpists, South American harpists, Chinese harpists, Scottish harpists, Irish harpists .... and the list goes on and on. And you can attend dozens of workshops on everything from Baroque ornamentation to making money at music.
In addition, the exhibition hall will be full of music books, CDs and all sorts of harp-related items. Harp makers from far and wide will have their instruments there for you to try and buy -- from pedal harps to Celtic harps.
The Congress will be a smorgasbord of the world’s very finest and greatest -- a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Besides all the harp music, Vancouver’s spectacular international fireworks festival takes place the same week.
This conference is for harpists of all types from beginners to professionals, performers, teachers, harp-builders, arrangers and composers. And it is for harp enthusiasts of all styles including classical, jazz, folk, early music, contemporary and world.
